You do not need a template or a writer to get a release started. You need the page that already tells the story, and about thirty seconds.

Start by installing the New London Media extension from the Chrome Web Store or Microsoft Edge Add-ons. Pin it so the button sits in your toolbar, and make sure you are signed in to your New London Media account.

Now go to the page you want to announce. It can be your new product page, an event listing, a blog post, or any page on your own website. Click the New London Media button. A small window shows what the extension found: the page title, where it came from, and the author if the page names one. If that looks right, clip it.

The New London Media submit form opens in a new tab with the work already done. The page headline is in the title. The page's description is in the summary line. The author is in the byline. The page text is in the body, with a link to the original page at the bottom. The form opens on the Article tab; if you are publishing a press release or a news release, click that tab at the top and everything you clipped stays in place.

Here is a tip that saves editing time: if you only want one section of a long page, highlight that text before you click the extension. It will use only what you selected.

Now make it yours. Sharpen the headline so it says what is new. Trim the body down to the facts that matter. Add a photo - a clear, wide image works best because it becomes the picture on your release page and on social shares. Pick a category and add up to four tags.

Submit it. An editor reviews it, and once approved it goes live on its own permanent page with your link on it. That page is indexed by search engines and keeps sending readers to you long after the day you posted it.

Open a page, click, edit, submit. That is the whole job.
